Faith and Worship

Within Lanark County, there are a variety of faiths being practiced. Some of these are included below:

Catholic

The Roman Catholic Church is one of the largest religions and the oldest continuously operating institution in existence. Most of the Roman Catholic Churches share certain essential beliefs and practices. In this religion, teaching sacraments are gifts of Christ, performed through the office of the Church.

Presbyterian

The Presbyterian Churches believe that the Bible was “inspired”, in a sense that God speaks through human authors. Because the source is ultimately God, they believe that these scriptures are infallible. Beliefs and practices are derived from the Bible and not from tradition.

Jehovah’s Witness

The Jehovah’s Witnesses’ tradition adheres by the Bible as their sacred text, though only the New World Translation is approved for use. They have continued to engage in strong evangelistic and missions programs as well as lifestyles based on a strict moral cost of conduct. They are also expected to participate in door-to-door evangelism and frequently attend meetings.

Jewish

The Judaism religion is most importantly teaching that there is one God who wants all people to do what is just. All people are created in the image of God and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Much of the Jewish religious observance is centered in the home.

Anglican

Anglicans proclaim and celebrate the gospel of Jesus Christ in worship and action. They acknowledge that God is calling on them to widen participation in ministry and leadership and they value their heritage of biblical faith, reason, tradition, and the rich variety of life in the community.
