Carelton Place MapCarleton Place has emerged in recent years as a very popular place to live with a high quality of life, excellent schools and an abundance of recreational and cultural opportunities.

Carambeck Community Centre recently opened offering a variety of programs and office space for community groups. More information on currently offered programs and events can be obtained on the Town’s website

Considered the Pride of the Mississippi River, Carleton Place has the distinction of having the oldest canoe club in Canada, great fishing and a beautiful beach.

There is something going on almost every weekend during the year, especially in the summer months, including a thriving Farmers Market from May to October. For a listing of events see the Town’s community events calendar on our website or “Like” us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/townofcarletonplace or “follow” us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/Carleton_Place.

Carleton Place’s close proximity to the National Capital region, the fourth largest metropolitan area in the country, provides access to a large pool of skilled workers, which makes it a strategic location for business. The Town is only a 15 minute drive to Kanata and 30 minutes from downtown via Highway 417.

Lanark County's history is steeped in the wool industry. Although its many mills have long since disappeared, a faint echo can be heard from Carleton Place. The Canadian Co-Operative Wool Growers Ltd. still grades and processes wool for shipment to manufacturers in Canada and overseas.

Its venerable history is sharply contrasted by the bustling and multi-faceted industrial sector found in today's Carleton Place. With a focus in high technology component manufacturing, local industries range from the growth of exotic coral to the manufacturing of major league baseball bats. The Town of Carleton Place hosts these industries in the three business parks.

To complement its business parks, Carleton Place has a thriving business community. There is available commercial space ranging in size from 1,500 to 25,000 sqft. For details, contact the Economic Development Office at 613-257-7244.
