Those looking to upgrade their skills have the choice of the following programs in Lanark County:
Adult Learning & Training Centre
ALTC (Lanark County) is a non-profit organization that provides a free and confidential literacy and basic skills program for adults in Lanark County. We focus on one to one or small group instruction in reading, writing, math, basic computer skills and work specific skills. We help adults reach their own goals, which may include things like:
- becoming better readers and writers;
- improving math skills;
- finding a job;
- going on to further education;
- learning to use the computer;
- and learning basic skills for specific jobs.
If you need help with any of the work in your program, we have tutors who work one-on-one with you to help you as much as you need.
If you are between the age of 55 and 64 in Lanark County and are not working, the counsellors at New Directions can assist and guide you if you need some assistance with literacy upgrading, high school completion or computer skills.
